Proverbs 22
[13] The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside; I will be killed in the streets!”
Proverbs 22:13 NASB1995
It's incredible what excuses people can come up with to avoid work. It's not just a modern day malaise, it seems that the author of Proverbs had encountered them too.
The sluggard alludes to the possibly fatal consequences of stepping out to engage in meaningful work, but I think he's gotten it tjr wrong way round. It's lazyness that kills you eventually.
